New Delhi, April 9 -- Indian stock market comes under selling pressure after a sharp surge in the previous session with Nifty 50 below the 23,700 mark.
At close, the Sensex was down 931.25 points or 1.20 percent at 76,631.65, and the Nifty was down 222.25 points or 0.93 percent at 23,775.10. Nifty Midcap index added 0.3% and Smallcap index ended on a flat note.
Among the sectors, metal, power, pharma added 0.6-1% while oil & gas, PSU Bank, Auto, Infra, Consumer Durables, Media, and Private Bank shed between 0.3-2%.
On Nifty, the top gainers were Dr Reddy's Labs, Hindalco, Bajaj Auto, Bharat Electronics, Max Healthcare while on the losing side were L&T, Interglobe Aviation, Eternal, Shriram Finance, Jio Financial.
