State, national leaders condole demise of The Assam Tribune editor P.G. Baruah

Guwahati, Dec. 17 -- The demise of Chairman Emeritus of The Assam Tribune Group of newspapers, Prafulla Gobinda Baruah, has caused sorrow across Assam and the Northeast, with leaders from across the country expressing deep condolences.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Baruah, popularly known as P.G. Baruah, while several national and state leaders hailed his immense contribution to journalism and public life. Baruah had been a strong and influential voice of the Northeast since the 1960s.

"Saddened by the passing away of Shri P.G. Baruah Ji, Editor and Managing Director of The Assam Tribune Group. He will be remembered for his contributions to the media world," Prime Minister Modi wrote on his X handle.
