Chennai, Feb. 28 -- Refuting reports in a section of the media and in some TV channels and social media handles alleging that two trains operated in opposite directions in the same track near Perungalathur station, the Southern Railway on Saturday, terming them as false, baseless and misleading, clarified that two trains waiting one behind the other at a signal point is a normal operational occurrence.

"We categorically deny this claim (of two trains operated in opposite direction)", a Railway official said.

The visuals being circulated by TV channels merely show trains standing one behind another awaiting signal clearance, which is a normal operational occurrence.
