Chennai, May 8 -- The Southern Railway Chennai Division has achieved a significant milestone in non-fare revenue generationby registering its highest-ever earnings through scrap disposal during the FY 2025-26.
The Division disposed of 11,906 Metric Tonnes of scrap, comprising released rails, unserviceable machinery, tools, ferrous andnon-ferrous materials, and other obsolete railway assets, generating a record revenue of Rs 37.2 crores. This surpasses the previous year's performance of 8,466 Metric Tonnes of scrap disposal and revenue of Rs 30.3 crores during FY 2024-25.
