Lucknow, Feb. 24 -- The Samajwadi Party is adopting a soft stance over the return of its rebel MLAs a year ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls for which all political parties are now busy formulating their strategies.

According to SP sources on Tuesday, the MLAs who left the party can return through the same route under which they left. However, they will have to prove their loyalty to the party.

Sources said there is a growing buzz that some rebel MLAs are uneasy over not receiving the expected importance in the ruling BJP and have started contacting each other again. The SP leadership, the sources said, has made it clear that the path to return is not closed, but "practical proof" will be required.
