Madrid, May 30 -- The Spanish authorities strongly condemn the Israeli government's plans to establish 22 new settlements in the West Bank of Jordan River, calling them a violation of international law and a threat to peace, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
"The Spanish government strongly condemns approval of 22 new settlements in West Bank by Israeli government. Settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law, undermine the viability of the two-State solution and are a threat to peace," the statement said.
Madrid also expressed concerns over Israel's ongoing military operation in the region, including actions in the Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, massive demolitions, increased settler violence ...
