Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 -- South India is becoming a hub for health tourism and 'heal in India', said Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L Murugan today.
Inaugurating the 14th convocation ceremony of Sri Uthradam Thirunal Academy of Medical Sciences here, he pointed out that many people from foreign countries are coming to cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Kochi and Bengaluru as part of medical tourism.
The health infrastructure in the country is growing day by day, he added.
The Minister said that the country has grown from 387 medical colleges before 2014 to more than 750 medical colleges after 10 years.
