Mogadishu, Feb. 12 -- The African union (AU) Executive Council has elected 10 countries to the organization's Peace and Security Council (PSC), including Somalia for the first time, the organization's Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) department said.

"The 48th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council (11 to 12 Feb 2026), elected Benin, Gabon, Lesotho, Morocco, Somalia, and South Africa, and re-elected Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Sierra Leone and Uganda as PSC Members for the 2026-2028 term (1 April 2026-31 March 2028)," the department said on X on Wednesday.
