Baijnath, March 11 -- The mortal remains of 26 year-old Indian Army soldier Akshit Sharma, a resident of Ustehar village in Baijnath subdivision, were consigned to flames with full military honours on Wednesday after he tragically drowned in the Tawi river during commando training in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu. Sharma was serving in the 09 Punjab Regiment of the Indian Army and was undergoing commando training in Jammu. According to reports, a special exercise was underway in the Tawi river as part of the training programme when he met with the accident. The Army immediately launched a search operation, but despite relentless efforts, he could not be saved.
