Thrissur, April 22 -- Specially trained police sniffer dogs have been deployed at the Mundathikode accident site to trace scattered human remains, as rescue teams continue efforts following the devastating explosion at a firecracker unit linked to preparations for the Thrissur Pooram.

Authorities said the intensity of the blast had blown human remains across a wide area, including nearby paddy fields, making conventional search operations extremely difficult.

Cadaver dogs are now being used to locate missing body parts, even as teams continue combing the debris and surrounding areas. Sources indicate that additional remains were recovered during the continued search operations.
