Guwahati, Feb. 4 -- At least six persons were killed in last 48 hours as man-elephant conflict reached its worst height in different parts of Assam.

While a couple was trampled to death by a wild elephant herd in Tamulpur district in wee hours of Wednesday, another elderly person was killed in Kaliabar in Nagaon district late Tuesday night due to elephant attack. Locals said that the elephant descended from the nearby forest and trampled his house leading to the fatality.

Similarly, the Baksa district administration said that two members of a family were killed by a herd of elephants that raised their village Khoirani in Baksa district on Tuesday morning.
