Bidar, April 11 -- In remarks that could spark a wider ideological debate, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday termed the continued belief in "karma theory" as dangerous, especially among the educated, and called for a decisive shift towards rational and scientific thinking.
Addressing the 40th State Journalists' Conference here, he said adherence to the idea that people's social status or suffering is determined by past deeds perpetuates inequality and discourages social change. "It is worrying that even the educated continue to follow such beliefs," he observed.
