Bengaluru, April 18 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said there is no opposition to women's reservation and insisted that the setback to the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill was the result of political strategy at the Centre.

He said, "The Women's Reservation Bill had already been passed in the Lok Sabha in 2023. It failed because a constitutional amendment was brought in. If women's reservation had been presented as a standalone bill without linking it to delimitation, it would have been passed.""Because constituency delimitation and women's reservation were brought together, the Women's Reservation Bill failed," adding that the Centre had indulged in politics over the issue.
