Hyderabad, Oct. 1 -- 1994 batch IPS officer Shivdhar Reddy formally assumed charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana on Wednesday, becoming the sixth officer to hold the top post since the formation of the state.

Special pujas were performed at the DGP office before he took charge.

Speaking to the media after assuming office, Reddy said his immediate priority would be to ensure the peaceful conduct of the upcoming local body elections.

"We are making all arrangements to conduct the elections efficiently. We have a strong team and will effectively use technology at the field level," he said.
