Thane, Aug. 10 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of "vote theft" in recent elections, asserting that such claims are an insult to Maharashtra's electorate.
Challenging Gandhi to substantiate his claims, Shinde insisted that any evidence should be presented before the courts or the Election Commission, rather than being aired as baseless public accusations.
Shinde's remarks came in response to Gandhi's serious accusations of a "huge criminal fraud" involving alleged collusion between the BJP and the Election Commission, based on an analysis of voter rolls from a Karnataka constituency last year.
