Satara, April 10 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has strongly denied reports claiming that he held a meeting with Members of Parliament from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) led by Uddhav Thackeray.

Shinde termed the news as completely baseless, mischievous, and misleading, asserting that no such meeting ever took place.

He further stated that rumours about MPs from Thackeray's faction defecting to his side have been circulating for the past one to one-and-a-half years, but there is "no truth whatsoever" in such claims.

His statement is seen as an attempt to put an end to the speculation surrounding the issue.
