Shimla, Feb. 19 -- In a firm step to dismantle entrenched narcotics networks, the Shimla District Police have placed two repeat offenders under preventive detention by invoking the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS Act).
The action is part of an intensified campaign to curb the rising menace of Chitta in the district.
The first accused, Gagan Bhushan of Village Bejori, Tehsil Rohru, had been booked in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
