Shimla, Feb. 5 -- The Shimla district administration has issued strict directives to expedite relief and rehabilitation for residents affected by the destabilising four-lane construction work in the Chalaunthi area.
The orders were issued by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap during a high-level meeting convened today to address recurring road subsidence and house damage.
Reviewing a damage assessment report from the SDM (Rural) and the State Geologist, the meeting noted that one house has been declared 'uninhabitable', another temporarily unsafe, and several others are under surveillance. All affected residents have been shifted to safe locations.
