Shillong, Dec. 18 -- The Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday disposed of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on water scarcity in certain parts of Shillong, even as Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister, Marcuise Marak, said that water supply would be restored in the state capital by Thursday.
The PHE department is under fire from the general public for the disruption in the water supply for the past eight days.
On Tuesday, the division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, took a suo motu cognisance of the news report on the water crisis. The PIL was filed by the Registrar General of the High Court.
