Kolkata, Jan. 15 -- union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday inaugurated the Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre in Kolkata, marking the completion of a long-pending cultural infrastructure project in the city.
Built at a cost of Rs 26 crore, the new regional centre is aimed at promoting visual arts and cultural activities in eastern India.
Speaking at the inauguration, the minister said the completion of the building showed that "if work is done with honesty, everything is possible."He recalled that during his previous visit to Kolkata, he had seen that the building remained incomplete even after a decade due to a lack of initiative.
