Kolkata, Dec. 13 -- Shatadru Dutta, the chief organiser and promoter of Lionel Messi's ongoing four-city India tour, was on Saturday detained by the police after chaos and violence at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan marred the first leg of the Argentine soccer superstar's visit.

A top police officer also indicated that Dutta was likely to be arrested once the FIR was filed.

"We have detained the main organiser and ensured that this mismanagement does not go unpunished and that the fans are adequately compensated," said state police Director General Rajeev Kumar at a press conference.
