Mumbai, March 5 -- Senior leader Sharad Pawar has been elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed from Maharashtra after the nomination process for seven seats concluded with exactly seven candidates in the fray. With no contest required, all seven candidates are set to enter the Upper House of Parliament without an election.
Since only seven nomination papers were filed for the seven available seats, it became clear that the election would be uncontested. Due to health concerns, Sharad Pawar could not personally attend the nomination filing process. However, he later shared his thoughts through a message posted on social media.
In his post on X, Pawar reflected on his long political journey and expressed gratitude to the people of Maharashtra....
