Prayagraj, Jan. 19 -- The controversy surrounding Jyotishpeethadhishwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati over taking a holy dip at the Sangam confluence on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is showing no signs of abating.
For the past 24 hours, Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand has been sitting on a dharna and hunger strike outside his camp with his followers.
He held a press conference on Monday, levelling numerous allegations after being prevented from taking the holy dip with his palanquin on Mauni Amavasya. He said that he had to return to his camp without performing the ritual bath and alleged that he was deliberately prevented from doing so.
