Ayodhya, Jan. 29 -- Seven officials and other staff members, including the jail superintendent, were suspended on Thursday after two inmates escaped from Ayodhya District Jail. Departmental inquiries have been ordered involving the suspended personnel.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Golu Agrahari alias Suraj, a resident of Musafirkhana in Amethi district, and Sher Ali, a resident of Amremau village in Karaudikala, Sultanpur. Both were lodged in Ayodhya jail in an attempted murder case.
According to Director General of Prisons PC Meena, Senior Jail Superintendent UP Mishra, Jailer JK Yadav, Deputy Jailer Mayank Tripathi, one head warder, and three warders have been placed under suspension for negligence.
