New Delhi, March 13 -- Indian equity markets witnessed a sharp decline on Friday afternoon, with benchmark indices falling nearly two per cent amid broad-based selling across sectors.
The BSE Sensex dropped 1,351.31 points or 1.78 per cent to trade at 74,683.11 around 1:32 pm IST, compared with the previous close of 76,034.42. During the session, the index touched a day's high of 75,576.20 and a low of 74,538.71, after opening at 75,444.22.
Similarly, the Nifty 50 declined 463.45 points or 1.96 per cent to 23,175.70 around 1:15 pm IST, against the previous close of 23,639.15. The index opened at 23,462.50, climbed to a day's high of 23,492.40, and later slipped to a low of 23,180.55 during the trading session.
