Mumbai, Feb. 5 -- The Sahar Police have arrested a second accused in connection with a taxi scam in which an American tourist was allegedly cheated of Rs 18,000 for a ride of barely 400 metres near Mumbai International Airport, officials said on Thursday .

The accused, Taufiq Shaikh (39), was produced before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court, which remanded him in police custody until February 6.

Senior Police Inspector Manoj Chalake said Shaikh had fled to Uttar Pradesh after the incident and was arrested upon his return to Mumbai based on specific intelligence that he would arrive at Dadar railway station.
