Beed, Jan. 22 -- A woman narrowly escaped a leopard attack in Beed district after the thick scarf wrapped around her neck prevented the wild animal from sinking its teeth into her, officials said on Thursday.

The incident occurred while the woman, identified as Netke, was working in an agricultural field. According to police officials, a leopard suddenly pounced on her from behind and attempted to attack her neck. However, the animal's jaws clamped onto the heavy fabric of her scarf instead, preventing a potentially fatal injury.

Hearing her screams, farmers working in nearby fields rushed towards the spot, forcing the leopard to retreat back into the surrounding area, police said.
