New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Supreme Court today dismissed a Special Leave Petition filed against an interim order of the Madras High Court that restrained the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from sending OTP verification messages to individuals as part of its 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' mass membership campaign.
A bench, comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and A.S. Chandurkar, heard Senior Advocate P. Wilson, appearing for the DMK, who argued that the initiative is a door-to-door campaign aimed at enrolling members, similar to what other political parties like the BJP and AAP also conduct.
