New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to interfere with the Punjab and Haryana High Court's order relegating the Punjab Kesari management to avail of alternative statutory remedies in connection with alleged environmental violations, but issued a set of clarificatory directions in view of the peculiar facts of the case.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi was hearing two special leave petitions challenging the High Court's judgment dated January 23, 2026, by which the petitioners were directed to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT) under the applicable statutory framework, including Section 33B(c) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.
