New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- The Supreme Court has upheld the suspension of an advocate's license for three years after finding him guilty of making scandalous allegations against a woman complainant, terming his conduct as serious professional misconduct.

The Court further imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh to be paid to the complainant as compensation within three months.

A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi dismissed the advocate's appeal against the Bar Council of India's Disciplinary Committee order, which had suspended him from practice for three years.
