New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- The Supreme Court today sought responses from the Centre and nine states/UTs on a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging that migrant Muslim workers from West Bengal are being arbitrarily detained in various parts of the country on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals.
A Bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued notice to the Union government and the governments of Odisha, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and West Bengal.
