New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- The Supreme Court today reserved its judgment on the crucial issue of whether a quota should be created for the promotion of serving judicial officers those who joined the service at the entry level, as District Judges, to address stagnation and ensure career progression within the judiciary.
A five-judge Constitution Bench, comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justices Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, K. Vinod Chandran, and Joymalya Bagchi, is examining whether uniform, pan-India guidelines should be laid down to determine inter se seniority in the higher judicial service.
