New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- In a strong message to High Courts across the country, the Supreme Court on Tuesday deprecated the practice of reserving judgments and then failing to deliver or upload them for months, warning that such delays undermine the administration of justice.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipin M. Pancholi observed that prolonged delays in pronouncing or publishing reserved judgments cannot be permitted to continue at the cost of litigants' rights.
The Court noted that the issue was a systemic challenge confronting the judiciary and required urgent corrective measures.
