New Delhi, Feb. 17 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that the accused in the Deoghar fodder scam case are now in their 60s, 70s and even 80s, while hearing the Central Bureau of Investigation's appeal challenging the grant of bail to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

A Bench of Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh made the remark during the hearing of the CBI's challenge to the Jharkhand High Court order suspending Yadav's sentence and granting him bail in the case relating to alleged fraudulent withdrawals from the Deoghar treasury.

Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, appearing for the CBI, argued that the High Court had wrongly applied the law while suspending the sentence. "It's a question of law....
