New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- The Supreme Court has granted bail to Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) promoters Kapil Wadhawan and Dheeraj Wadhawan in a Rs 57,000-crore bank fraud case, citing prolonged pre-trial incarceration and violation of their constitutional right to personal liberty and a speedy trial.
A Bench comprising Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi observed that the Wadhawan brothers have spent over five years in custody, even though the trial has not commenced, and all other co-accused in related cases have already been released on bail.
