New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed of a plea filed by union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking quashing of a criminal defamation case instituted against him by Congress MP and Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha, in view of an amicable settlement reached between the parties.

A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh recorded Tankha's decision to withdraw the defamation proceedings and accordingly closed the matter pending before the Court.
