New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed of a plea filed by union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking quashing of a criminal defamation case instituted against him by Congress MP and Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha, in view of an amicable settlement reached between the parties.
A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice N. Kotiswar Singh recorded Tankha's decision to withdraw the defamation proceedings and accordingly closed the matter pending before the Court.
Informing the Bench about the settlement, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Chouhan, submitted that the parties had met at Parliament and resolved the dispute amicably. He stated that Tankha had agreed to withdraw both the civil suit for d...
