Bengaluru, Jan. 22 -- A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court has sentenced Sayyad M. Idris, a resident of Karnataka, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 70,000.

The case pertains to the recruitment and radicalisation of Muslim youth for the Pakistan-linked banned terrorist organisation, Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The NIA, which assumed investigation of the case in April 2020, had previously arrested Idris and Altaf Ahmed Rather. During its probe, the agency uncovered efforts to radicalise local youth using social media platforms.

In addition to Idris, charges have been filed against co-accused Tania Parveen and two Pakistan-based absconders, Ayesha and Bilal. Proceedings are ongoing against other suspects who...
