Mumbai/ New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- Amid the ongoing controversy over Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal's remarks comparing Tipu Sultan with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday criticised the BJP, asking it to review its own past position on the 18th century Mysore ruler before attacking others.
In a statement, Raut said that although the BJP has strongly opposed Sapkal's statement, the party should first examine the stand it had previously taken regarding Tipu Sultan. He pointed out that former President Ram Nath Kovind had praised Tipu Sultan during a visit to Karnataka.
