Lucknow, March 14 -- The Samajwadi Party (SP), which holds a strong foothold in Uttar Pradesh politics, is now preparing to expand its horizons and become active in Northeast India as well.
The party is currently working on a strategy to contest the Assam Assembly elections.
According to sources familiar with the matter, leaders of the party's Assam unit recently met with National President Akhilesh Yadav at the party headquarters in Lucknow to discuss the upcoming elections and organisational expansion.
According to party sources here on Saturday, contesting elections in Assam is being viewed as a long-term strategy aimed at increasing the party's presence in the Northeast. The Party plans to field candidates in minority-dominated areas...
