Shillong, Sept. 12 -- Meghalaya Civil Defence & Home Guards Minister Comingone Ymbon on Friday assured the assembly that the pending salaries of Home Guard personnel would be disbursed soon.
Out of the 1075 volunteers requisitioned by the Meghalaya police, Ymbon said payment of 165 is done by the Home Guards department.
"This is not the case in the police department, which does not have a dedicated head of account, hence the delay in payment for the remaining Home Guards volunteers whose salaries are disbursed by the police," the minister said in the course of his reply to a cut-motion moved by opposition Trinamool Congress legislator Miani D Shira to discuss the grievances of the Home Guards.
