Malappuram, Aug. 28 -- The intervention of the 'Sakhi One Stop Center' has helped reunite a 23-year old woman from Assam and her four-year- old child with their relatives, enabling them to return to their native place.

The woman, a native of Nagaon in Assam, and her child were found stranded near the Areekode bus stand on August 19 during a police patrol. They were taken to the Sakhi One Stop Centre functioning at Perinthalmanna for temporary protection.

According to police, the woman had been living in Thamarassery, Kozhikode with her husband, a migrant worker, for the last four months. On August 19, following a quarrel, the husband allegedly abandoned her and the child at the bus stand.
