New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- A five-year struggle for a 19-year-old girl, burdened by a massive abdominal tumour, culminated in a complex surgery for its removal at Safdarjung Hospital, giving her a new lease of life.

The rare retroperitoneal tumour, measuring 30 x 24 x 24 cm and weighing 10.1 kilograms, had displaced major organs and blood vessels, posing a significant challenge for the surgical team.

The procedure was led by the hospital's senior administration, including Director Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Principal Dr. Geetika Khanna, Medical Superintendent Dr. Charu Bambha, and HOD Anaesthesia Dr. Kavita Sharma.
