Moscow, July 16 -- Russian Security Council Secretary, Sergey Shoigu, has called NATO one of Moscow's biggest 'national security' threats, citing the international alliance's decision to increase its overall defence spending to 5% of its GDP by 2035.
In an interview with Kommersant, Shoigu drew attention to the bloc's already massive military power and what such a big increase in defence could mean.
"We should not forget that NATO is still one of the key threats to the national security of the Russian Federation. According to official data alone, the number of personnel in the armed forces of the alliance countries is over 4 million people, the bloc has over 50 thousand tanks and combat armoured vehicles, over 7 thousand combat aircr...
