Puducherry, May 4 -- In line with the exit poll predictions, the ruling AINRC-led NDA, also comprising BJP and the AIADMK, has established early leads in majority of the seats, pushing the Opposition Congress-DMK led INDIA bloc to second, as counting of votes polled in the April 9 elections to the 30-member Puducherry Territory Assembly commenced at 8.00 AM and was progressing peacefully.

According to intital trends available for ten seats, the AINRC was leading in five seats, its ally BJP and AIADMK one each, the Congress-2 and DMK one.
