Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 2 -- The Kerala Assembly was thrown into turmoil on Monday as the Opposition, led by the UDF, boycotted the proceedings and staged a walkout after the Speaker rejected their notice for an adjournment motion seeking an urgent discussion on the alleged arbitrary grant of parole to convicted criminals.

The House saw heated exchanges, slogan-shouting and sharp political accusations.

The Opposition had submitted a notice for an adjournment motion demanding an immediate debate on what it termed as "misuse of parole" by the government to benefit party-linked convicts.
