Mumbai, May 8 -- NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra government, expressing deep outrage over the recent surge in atrocities against women and minor girls in the state.
Alleging that criminals no longer fear the law, Pawar urged the government to convene a one-day special assembly session to immediately pass the Shakti Act.
Pawar emphasised that legal technicalities should not become a hurdle in punishing those guilty of heinous crimes.
If existing laws are proving to be an obstacle in punishing "these monsters", then the laws themselves must be changed. Otherwise, the common public will be left with no choice but to take the law into their own hands, he warned.
