Mumbai, Feb. 23 -- NCP-SP MLA Rohit Pawar has strongly demanded that the investigation into the January 28 plane crash that led to the death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar be conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rather than the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Pawar argued that handing over the probe to the CBI could lead to significant delays. He pointed out that more than 7,000 cases are currently pending with the CBI, of which nearly 2,500 have been pending for decades. Given this backlog, he insisted that the CID is fully capable of carrying out a thorough and timely investigation.
