Hyderabad, Jan. 12 -- Terming road accidents as one of the gravest challenges facing society, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said more people were losing their lives in road mishaps than in wars and called for urgent reforms in traffic management and public awareness.

The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the "Arrive Alive" road safety awareness programme organised by the State Police Department at the Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda here.

Congratulating the police for their planning to prevent accidents, he said a road accident occurs every minute in the country and stressed that awareness must begin from the student stage itself.
