Chennai, Jan. 15 -- It was a day of gripping action as Jallikattu,the bull taming sport, conitnued to be held at Avuniapuram in Maduraidistrict of Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
A total of 1,000 bulls took part in the Pongal festival's first Jallikattu and550 bull tamers have registered for the event.
The event began at 8.00 A.M after the vets conducted the routine medicaltests on bulls, besides bulltamers to ascertain whether any of them wereunder the influence of alcohol.
As the bulls were released, enthusiastic tamers flexed their muscles towin over the animals.
At the end of nine rounds, 764 bulls were released from the Vaadivasalinto the taming arena of which 190 were tamed by 34 bulltamers.
