Lucknow, Oct. 16 -- A 65-year-old retired government employee in Lucknow fell victim to a cyber fraud and lost Rs 12.05 lakh after being threatened and manipulated by scammers posing as officers from a government investigation agency, police said on Wednesday.

The fraudsters used a fake narrative around a so-called "Operation Sindoor" and alleged terror funding from Pakistan to trap the elderly man and his family.

Narendra Kumar Maurya, a resident of Saleh Nagar, Dilkusha Bungalow Market area, received a call on September 30 around 11 a.m. from an unknown person.
